Flag Football
NFL Flag Football is a game that everyone can play. It's got running, throwing,
and catching, and it relies on brains and strategy as well as athletic skill.
You don't need pads or helmets, like NFL players wear, or lots of equipment. And
there's no tackling, blocking, or contact. Just fun!
In NFL Flag games, teams of five players throw and run with a football to move
down the field. The team with the ball is called the offense and the team
without the ball is called the defense. The players on defense try to stop the
plays of the offense by pulling the flag out of the belt of the player who has
the ball.

American football is a fantastic sport, but with helmets, shoulder pads and some
seriously tough tackling, it might seem a bit daunting to the beginner. That's
why the NFL developed flag football - a non-contact version of the sport played
by boys and girls of all ages and abilities. Flag football is the perfect way to
learn the ins and outs of American football without the worry of expensive
equipment or heavy tackles.
Running, catching, teamwork and co-ordination are
all vital in American football, and flag football lets you learn those skills in
a fun and safe environment. The rules and objectives are the same, but instead
of tackling, possession of the ball is gained by grabbing a flag strapped around
your opponent's waist.
Many people go on to play American football once they've
mastered flag, but if you want to stick with flag there are plenty of clubs with
both junior and senior teams. In the UK, flag football is being spearheaded by
NFL Europe and the Scottish Claymores. It's already hugely popular in Europe,
the USA and around the world. So if you're interested in American football and
want to get playing like the stars, flag football could be the perfect sport for
you!
